Tooth Whitening
Teeth whitening or tooth bleaching is an easy way to get a dazzling, white smile. Over the years, teeth can become discolored due to ageing, illness, certain foods, smoking, poor oral hygiene, trauma or any combination of these factors.
At the Perfect Smile Clinic, we offer several methods of whitening your teeth, from home bleaching to in office power bleaching. We have done extensive research on what procedures and what products give patients the best results. It is truly amazing what can be achieved with bleaching.
1. HOME BLEACHING
This technique involves wearing a custom fitted tray containing tooth whitening solution. All that you need to do is place the bleaching gel provided into the trays and insert the trays over your teeth once a day for thirty minutes. The procedure takes 2 to 3 weeks to get a whiter, brighter smile. How white and bright depends on how many days you choose to wear the trays. Home bleaching is an easy inexpensive way to whiten discolored teeth.
However don't be mislead by false claims on TV and in pharmacies about products that don't work and are dangerous for your teeth.
2. In-office Bleaching
Zoom!™ is a revolutionary, in-office tooth whitening system that is safe, effective, and very fast! In just over an hour your teeth will be dramatically whiter. Teeth typically become at least six to ten shades whiter. Zoom!™ Tooth Whitening is ideal for anyone looking for immediate results. It begins with a short preparation to isolate your lips and gums. The Zoom!™ clinician then applies the proprietary Zoom!™ Tooth Whitening Gel, which is activated by a specially designed light. Teeth typically become at least six to ten shades whiter , sometimes more! A five-minute fluoride treatment completes the procedure.
Zoom!™ is the culmination of extensive research into light technology, chemical reaction to lighten tooth shade and years of traditional tooth whitening experience. Combining this proprietary light technology (specially designed for tooth whitening) with a specifically formulated hydrogen peroxide gel in a two part delivery system results in a tooth whitening system that significantly reduces the time it takes to achieve dramatically whiter teeth.
The procedure is simple. It begins with a short preparation to cover your lips and gums, leaving only the teeth exposed. |

Then the proprietary ZOOM whitening gel, which was designed to be used specifically with the ZOOM light. The light and gel work together to gently penetrate the tooth surface, breaking up the stains and discoloration. |
|
During this time you can relax, watch TV or listen to music. The gel is applied for 3 twenty minute sessions for a total treatment time of 60 minutes. |
|
Finally, you go home with a brighter, whiter smile. |
Power bleaching is ideal for people who want a fast and effective method of whitening their teeth. For the very first time, a really dramatic change in tooth color can be achieved in a one-hour visit to the surgery. The procedure is simple, quick, safe, painless and convenient.
Simple:
The ZOOM2™ in-surgery teeth whitening system consists of a gentle Hydrogen Peroxide based whitening gel and a special Xeon-Halogen light source. The Xeon-Halogen light source is unique, as it delivers an optimal band width of 350-530nm for the acceleration of photochemical decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide, the main activator in teeth whitening.
A special liquid filled light guide transmits all the light energy, eliminating all of the heat, making the whitening experience a cool and comfortable procedure.
Quick:
The ZOOM2™ in-surgery teeth whitening takes less than TWO hour.
Safe:
The active ingredient in the ZOOM2™ treatment is Hydrogen Peroxide, which has been used safely in Dentistry for hundreds of years. Hydrogen Peroxide is recognized as a common and effective ingredient by the dental community. It has also been tested and found safe by university researchers. The ZOOM2™ treatment has no adverse effect on existing restorations (fillings), and does not soften the enamel tooth structure.
ZOOM2™ in-surgery teeth whitening can only be performed by qualified dental staff, which further ensures your safety.
Will it hurt?
The process is normally painless. A very small percentage of people may experience a varied degree tingling or pain following the procedure. Applying a fluoride gel almost always resolves the sensation.
Painless
Unlike some other systems, the ZOOM2™ whitening system uses a Xeon-Halogen light source with a special liquid light delivery system. This allows the optimum band width of light to be transferred to the tooth surface in order to create a photochemical reaction with the Hydrogen Peroxide. One of the unique features of ZOOM2™ is that little or no heat is transferred, thus ensuring a safe and comfortable experience.Convenient
A comfortable, Hydrogen Peroxide based whitening gel (ZOOM2™) is applied to the teeth by a qualified dental staff member. The gel is activated by the unique ZOOM2™ light source. Only two or three, eight-minute applications are required and the entire procedure is complete in less than an hour.
How white will my teeth become?
Clinical studies have shown that the ZOOM2™ in-surgery whitening treatment generally achieves a 7-10 shade improvement. Individual results may vary and will depend upon your initial tooth coloring and your oral hygiene circumstances. With ZOOM2™ your teeth will be whitened to their optimum natural shade.
How long does it last?
Your teeth are as individual and unique as you are, and therefore your results may vary. However, in general ZOOM2™ whitening results can last up to two years assuming you have good hygiene. Certain habits, such as the use of tobacco products, drinking a lot of tea, coffee or dark drinks can work against the result. Your qualified dental staff member will explain this at the initial consultation. We also provide you with home bleach trays so that you can touch up the shade at home whenever you like.
Does it work on veneers, crowns or tooth colored bonded materials?
NO! The ZOOM2™ treatment is designed to work on vital (living) teeth. Regular professional cleaning and use of the touch up whitening gel will help maintain the results indefinitely.
